The Blista, seen here parked in a Liberty City back alley

The Blista is a modern minivan first featured in Grand Theft Auto III (and, later, GTA: Liberty City Stories) that is found only in the Staunton Island and Shoreside Vale sections of GTA III's Liberty City.

The Blista resembles a third generation Dodge Caravan in appearance, whilst its name, rather unpleasantly, sounds like the word 'blister.'

GTA IV's introduction of vehicle manufacturers reveals that the Blista's sister car, the Blista Compact, is manufactured by Dinka. One may assume, through association, that the Blista is, or was, also manufactured by Dinka.

Overview

The Blista is considerably faster and more agile than it's size and appearance would suggest. Its driven by a powerful engine, possibly a six-cylender, channelled to the front wheels. This inevitably leads to a degree of understeer at higher speeds, but less than one would expect for a car of its size. Remarkably, its handling statistics are very similar to the Kuruma and Taxi, two small agile compact sedans.

Despite the Blista's hefty size, it can only accomodate three passangers and one driver, the same as any GTA3 era sedan.

Trivia

  • In GTA III, it can not be found parked or driven around Portland Island. An easy way to get one in Portland is to start a Firefighter mission, and one will eventually show up burning. Once extinguished, it can be stolen. It can also be spawned during Vigilante missions.
  • Due to a bug in GTA III, the Blista cannot be picked up by the car crusher in Harwood. The game replies “Crane cannot lift this vehicle.”, however it has no trouble lifting a Coach into the crusher. In GTA: Liberty City Stories, the bug is fixed, however the crane can not pick up large vehicles.
