New Guernsey is a state in Grand Theft Auto that is implied to be located next to Liberty City proper. It is based on New Jersey with similarities in geography and name that comes from Guernsey, a Channel Island, like Jersey.
Although New Guernsey is stated in the written history of Liberty City to be a whole American state, only a small fragment of it is shown in the game, consisting of five incorporated towns and cities, or districts, on a western landmass located very close to the boroughs of Liberty City, all separated by a western river.
