Packer

Revision as of 06:24, 7 July 2008 by gtw>Goatman48 (→‎GTA IV Rendition: Much of the stuff was innacurate (for example, the original text stated that the packer in GTA4 had no ramp) and gramatically incorrect. I fixed it.)

Packer near the countryside of San Andreas

The Packer is a car-carrying vehicle that has appeared in GTA: Vice City, GTA: San Andreas, and most recently in GTA IV. In Vice City the Packer could not transport vehicles, but in San Andreas can carry two or three, due to the ability to elevate part of the ramp. However, cars can still roll off at sudden stops or other sudden movements. The Packer can also be used as a stunt ramp.

It is possible to safely store one car on the Packer. This is by driving it onto the bottom ramp and slowly closing the top ramp down. If you go too far, however, the car will explode. You must have a good touch to keep the car safely in place.

The Packer bears a resemblance to the 1986 Peterbilt 379 Car Carrier.

Packer, as decipted in GTA IV

The Packer returns with a newer model in GTA IV manufactured by MTL. In addition to the ramp that was available on previous versions of the Packer, it now comes with flatbed and tanker variations. Strangely, the tanker does not explode, and the ramp does not touch the ground so it can't be used for transporting cars or doing stunts. The Packer is slow and difficult to handle, but heavy and great for pushing cars.
