Power-ups in the first Grand Theft Auto encompass a variety of pickups that primarily alter the player's behavior, grant them temporary or permanent benefits that can aid the player during missions, dire situations, or simply for fun.

Power-ups are scattered across the city within crates which can be broken using the player's weapon (including melee attacks) or using a vehicle, and picked up while on foot or in a vehicle.

Limited protection for the player against gunfire. Each armor pickup contains 3 health points, allowing the player to survive three hits.
Get Outta Jail Free Card

Exempts the player from penalties imposed if the player is arrested, such as a deduction of one score multiplier and the lost of weapons. Only one can be carried at a time.
