:Wow. I've been modding GTA IV since its release for PC and I've never seen that file format. Where did you find it ?--Loadingue 11:36, July 17, 2010 (UTC)
I might not have the right file, It's the one that contains all the textures for websites. And I found it in the HTML folder.--Gta-mysteries 11:59, July 17, 2010 (UTC)
:Oh yes, I see. Well the already mentionel OpenIV can open and edit those files. I suggest you to open an IMG archive and add your .whm file(s), to view them. I hope I've answered your question.--Loadingue 19:14, July 17, 2010 (UTC)
Beta Vehicles
Seeing as how you know about some of the beta vehicles. Do you think you could help me an ZS? We are having a discussion about them on his talk page. --Gta-mysteries Talk 10:09, July 30, 2010 (UTC)
Trusted Users & Patrolling
Hi Loadingue. We've made a few changes to Grand Theft Wiki, our staff structure and the way we monitor edits. As you're a Trusted User, we've given you the right to patrol other users' edits. This means you can check out the edits that haven't been checked yet, and either endorse them, fix them or revert them. As you're trusted, your edits are automatically marked as patrolled too! It would be a great help if you could patrol a few edits from Special:Patrol each time you visit GTW, and it would look good if you were nominated for promotion too! See Grand Theft Wiki:Patrolling for help and more info, and give it a go! Let me know if you have any questions - gboyers talk 00:38, 8 January 2012 (UTC)
Re: Wrong top speeds in GTA IV
gboyers
I won't pretend to be a technical expert on vehicle dynamics in games here. As I understand it, each vehicle is limited to a certain maximum speed, although they may appear faster or slower than other vehicles, or reach their maximum speed sooner or later than others, and a range of factors can slow a vehicle down slightly. So a vehicle with very high acceleration will reach their top speed quickly and be faster over a short distance than a vehicle with low acceleration, even if the 2nd vehicle has a higher maximum speed.
I guess the best thing for us to do would be to make that clear, instead of trying to reduce everything down to one figure. For example, on each vehicle page have a table which displays (for each game/version) the maximum speed, acceleration, drag, transmission (FWD, RWD, 4WD) and perhaps some measure of direct comparison (such as the time it takes to reach 100km/h on a certain surface in certain conditions). The problem with using an in-game speedometer mod is that I'm not sure how that's calculated, and that the max speed after a few seconds might not be the true maximum - factors such as an incline, rough road surface, wet/windy weather, and lower acceleration might make it appear lower than it can fully achieve.
I'd much rather see a proposal (such as the above) rather than just saying "don't use figures from this site". We should have a discussion in public, maybe change a couple of vehicle articles to demonstrate, and once that's agreed, start a community project to add that information to all vehicle pages. gboyers talk 07:15, 24 January 2012 (UTC)
:Ah. Well, I didn't expect it would take so many resources... I'm afraid I'm not ready to do it now, but I'll keep it in mind. Also, about those "factors" that may influence the correct calculation of a top speed: I've taken all those in consideration. All the top speeds I got, were done by sunny weather, at the airport. First I recorded the top speed when going in one way, and then the top speed while going in the opposite way, on the same track, and I repeated it several times for each vehicle. There was usually a difference of about 10 km/h, but in the end, comparisons between all the top speed made sense (the only exception being the Super Diamond, which seems to be the fastest car ever, according to my results...).
:Otherwise, this project is put to rest for now (as long as I'm concerned), but I wish I'll be able to do it very soon.--Loadingue (talk) 18:17, 24 January 2012 (UTC)
:::Speedometers are fine as long as results are consistent and reasonable, i.e. what you have done. To shorten the work in reverting inaccurate revisions, try having a table of values in the vehicle discussion page. Have a note on the individual vehicle pages directing to the discussion page saying that the values are obtained directly from in-game. The person who listed the max speed used some sort of calculations to derive the values. It is not obtained directly from the game or from the file, but it's relatively accurate, not absolutely accurate.--spaceeinstein 02:32, 30 January 2012 (UTC)
Radio stations
Rockstar did not specifically ask us to remove that content. However, we do not condone or support the cracking of game files (for illegal copying or playing before release) nor the proceeds from such activities. After release we can include all the content from the game we want, but prior to that we should only go on confirmed or public information. We can of course report news of leaks but we should not be posting spoilers or supporting those that have cracked the game. We can still be a great wiki with loads of detail without having to resort to such tactics. I stress this is not an instruction from Rockstar, this comes from me. I appreciate the apology, so let's forget it and move on! gboyers talk 23:54, 25 August 2013 (BST)
:You're right, Rockstar will probably be revealing the stations officially soon anyway. But I still think that our duty is to the users and information, and whenever there's a leak, we should take the opportunity to complete the Wiki. Quite honestly, not publishing the leaked info (in particular, the basic leaked info like the radio stations) is putting the Wiki one step behind everyone else. I've also noticed the GTA Wikia has taken full notes of the leaked playlists, and are subsequently gaining popularity in doing so. But again, you're right, the stations might be officially announced tomorrow.
:I'd just want to say that I will discuss this further if the leak becomes extremely important, as to leaking all the vehicles, the characters, the places, the missions, etc. Still refusing to put anything on the wiki might be missing out on an unprecedented opportunity, that the GTA Wikia, I am sure, will not hesitate to take.--Loadingue (talk|edits) 00:07, 26 August 2013 (BST)
Our policy is not to encourage the hacking of GTA games, and not to spread misinformation. I don't see how "the leak proves it's accurate" but I do take your point that it's probably correct.
What are your concerns about the relationship? Grand Theft Wiki is a recognised fansite, which means we do have some contact with Rockstar on a variety of matters. However, there is no implication of ever being "told" what to do by Rockstar, or being owned/operated by them, or anything of that nature. A-Dust was not at all correct when he suggested that. We are completely independent and will remain so. I'm happy to discuss the details of this if you're interested. Gsu eagle 31049
The tour bus image was ripped directly from the official GTA V website. (Image source) I forgot to put that in the image description when I uploaded it. --Gsu eagle 31049 (talk|edits) 22:29, 30 August 2013 (BST)
Help
I was wondering, if you have time, if you could help out with either the location or character pages for GTA V? In particular we need work on location pages. I hope you're enjoying GTA V and/or GTA Online if you've got them. A-Dust 17:42, 25 October 2013 (BST)
:I would really want to help, but though I own GTA V, I don't exactly have regular access to it, to put it so. The PS3 I own is at my father's, and I only visit him during week-ends. However I still want to help, so I'll see what I can do with locations.--Loadingue (talk|edits) 19:37, 25 October 2013 (BST)

:This is very good! I'll need to make some adjustments with the genres, but that's what I had in mind, maybe even better. Personally, I prefer Idea 1, because the articles won't look like much with Idea 2 before you open it. Now that we've got your model, we can work on integrating those into the articles.--Loadingue (talk|edits) 21:24, 14 December 2013 (GMT)
::Glad you like it. I'll create the tables for all GTA3 era games but I can't do the same for the other games due to lack of experience. I'll gladly consulate about the genres but I recommend doing it through chat. --DT-boy (talk|edits) 09:57, 15 December 2013 (GMT)

:::I don't see much difference with the first idea, and my preference still goes toward the first one. :: Well discogs.com is more professional in music. Plus a lot of songs don't have a page on Wikipedia. --DT-boy (talk|edits) 08:41, 22 December 2013 (GMT)
:::It may be more professional in music, but it provides few interesting information. I searched for Garry Rafferty's Baker Street and I wasn't convinced. The Wikipedia article on in the other hand, has all the info one could ask for regarding the song. In cases where there isn't a Wikipedia article, the Discogs page still provides relatively few information.--Loadingue (talk|edits) 10:43, 23 December 2013 (GMT)
Any progress on the HD universe stations? --DT-boy (talk|edits) 19:23, 11 January 2014 (GMT)
:Yes, they're pretty much done. Now I just need to edit the main page like you did and it'll be good. I might wait until I've reworked every radio station though, to make sure. By the way, do you happen to have a copy of the GTA Liberty City Stories booklet? Because I seem to remember the years for each song are in it, but I seem to have lost my copy.--Loadingue (talk|edits) 19:12, 12 January 2014 (GMT)
::If possible, please make a sandbox page for the main page parts like I did. After that we can discuss the genres (if necessary) and make it final. The standalone radio station pages can wait. Here's a link to the manual: If you're going to write the year of each song then I recommend you to use the earliest date (eg if a song was available on an album earlier than released as a single then write the date of the album) --DT-boy (talk|edits) 18:37, 15 January 2014 (GMT)
:::Thanks a lot for the link, that's perfect. However, I think it would be better if I finish the radio station articles, I really need to make sure about the music genres. It shouldn't be long anyway, only GTA III, LCS and SA are left. I'll make a sandbox page once I'm done.--Loadingue (talk|edits) 01:04, 16 January 2014 (GMT)

Removed VC/SA songs
R* has removed several songs from the mobile/tablet and digital distribution versions of VC & SA and probably also from the X360 version of SA (the PS3 versions need confirmation). The exact list of removed songs is still unknown because on Steam for those who bought the game earlier the songs aren't removed and because of this I'm unable to check it. However the removals from SA affect me as well so I can confirm that the songs listed here are missing from the latest Steam version of the game. Just thought I should let you know. --DT-boy (talk|edits) 09:52, 9 November 2014 (GMT)
