In Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, a wide array of weapons become available as the player completes more missions. The game features the most Melee Weapons in any GTA so far; and there is also a wide array of pistols, shotguns, and submachine guns. Guns may be purchased at Ammu-Nation and other types of weapons (such as baseball bats, hammers and chainsaws) can be bought at various hardware stores. Subsequently; after the release of the original Vice City, Rockstar was forced to drop the real names of the guns due to trademark reasons, likely being approached by Heckler & Koch the maker of the MP5, PSG1. Therefore the names you see for guns in the brackets are standard for all newer versions of Vice City for both PS2 and Xbox. It can also be noted that after the change the Ruger/Kruger is shortened and given a black skin, while the PSG1 is now standard with a mock silencer.
In Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, a large amount of weapons were introduced. There is a wide array of pistols, shotguns, and submachine guns, some of which can be purchased at Ammu-Nation or collected from several locations. The game also features the most melee weapons in any GTA game so far, some of which can be bought at various hardware stores. With the introduction of large number of weapons came along the ability to only carry one weapon of one slot.

Subsequently after the release of the original GTA Vice City for the 2, Rockstar dropped the real names of the guns, probably due to trademark reasons likely being approached by Heckler & Koch, the maker of the MP5 and PSG1. Therefore some weapons on the list have two names, the first coming from the original PS2 version while the second coming from subsequent PS2 versions and all subsequent ports (PC, Xbox, iOS, Android, etc.). There are other physical differences to the guns between the original and subsequent versions, including the Ruger/Kruger is shortened and given a black skin, while the PSG1 is now standard with a mock silencer.

Trivia
The weapon icons are different between the PC/console and iOS/Android versions of GTA Vice City. The latter reuses GTA III's weapon icon style, except with GTA Vice City's blue-pink color scheme. Some weapon icons are recycled and recolored from GTA III. Exceptions include:
* Brass Knuckles
* Screwdriver
* Hammer
* Knife
