What's the best way to make the PC version work semi-okay?

This forum topic is about GTA IV and appears in the GTA IV Portal.

I'm not so good with PC but the first install of GTA4 ran flawlessly. The update Rockstar released a few days ago improved my performance even more. You could post your problem here. List all your specs, the latest updates to your hardware, etc. Programs running in the background, not setting your PC to run at maximum performance, etc. can contribute to the lag. As GTAIV is a 32-bit application, it not benefit from 4Gb+ memory configurations. You may try /3GB | /Set IncreaseUserVa 3072 switches for OS, and editbin/imagecfg LargeAddressAware patch for game executable, to allow game to use more than 2 Gb of RAM. But this may prevent other applications from work, so it will be useful only on dedicated for games PC`s. JFFulcrum 12:16, 22 March 2009 (UTC)

My PC version did not work it searches for a product code and after i've get it the graphics of my gta4 is too bad oh and it hangs even i had the recommended system requirements.. can u help me user: repel05.
