Minivan: Difference between revisions

The Minivan resembles a fourth generation (2001-2007) [[wikipedia: Dodge Caravan | Dodge Caravan]] or [[wikipedia: Chrysler Voyager | Chrysler Voyager]]. The Minivan is wider however. There are two different types of Minivans roaming the streets of GTA IV. There is the standard model that can be seen with or without a roof spoiler (though both flavours feature a Minivan Sport badge on the rear liftgate), and the Minivan [[Cabby]] which serves taxi duty and also has its own "Minivan Cabby" liftgate badge. However, the Cabby version is manufactured by [[Schyster]], then most likely being based on the Chrysler Voyager. However, since [[Vapid]] (the vehicles manufacturer) is the games rendition of Ford Motor Company, the Minivan may have meant to resemble a 2nd generation [[wp:Ford Windstar|Ford Windstar]] or a 1st generation [[wp:Ford Freestar|Ford Freestar]]. The Minivan's generic name is probably a parody of the Dodge Caravan's.

The fact that the Minivan is badged as both a [[Vapid]] and a [[Schyster]] (when as a taxi) may be reflecting the fact that the Dodge Caravan is sold as a Chrysler Town and Country and a Plymouth Grand Voyager. This may suggest that there might be partnerships between car manufacturers in the GTA world, or a larger mother company like [[wikipedia:General Motors|General Motors]] may exist, who produce the same vehicles under different names. Another explanation could come from the badging on the Cabby, where it reads "Limited Vapid Design", meaning the Minivan could be manufactured under licence by Schyster, or be a rebadge of the Vapid version.

The Minivan is powered by a 24V engine, presumably a V6 with 4 valves per cylinder, paired to a 4 speed gearbox in a RWD configuration. Acceleration is very poor, taking upwards of 10 seconds to reach 60mph (100km/h). The top speed of the Minivan is also very poor, putting it on-par with the [[Willard]] in terms of "slowest passenger vehicle". The suspension is moderately firm, giving the Minivan ample support in the curves; though drastic understeer can be felt. Braking is good, and ABS is standard across the line. Accident deformation is acceptable, though three to four direct frontal hits can render it un-drivable. Engine build quality is also acceptable, though again, after only a few hits, it may stall/catch fire.
