Czech Republic
The Czech Republic (Czech: Česká republika) is a country located in Central Europe with borders to Austria, Germany, Poland and Slovakia. The capital of the Czech Republic is Prague and the currency is the Czech koruna. The country, as Czechoslovakia with Slovakia, gained independence from the Soviet Union in November 1989 and split from Slovakia on January 1, 1993 before joining the European Union on May 1, 2004.
