Death at Sea is a mission in Grand Theft Auto V given to protagonist Michael De Santa by Abigail Mathers from the Sonar Collections Dock in Paleto Cove, Blaine County.
Mission
Michael De Santa, while at the Sonar Collections Dock, will meet Abigail Mathers, the widow of environmentalist and television producer Frank Mathers. She explains that Frank died when his submarine began to fall apart while underwater and asks Michael to collect the pieces, which are scattered across the Pacific Ocean surrounding San Andreas. She needs the parts as she can not claim on Frank's life insurance as the insurance company believe the submarine had been tampered with. She provides Michael with a Dinghy, with a sonar to find the broken parts and some scuba diving equipment. The player can then collect the parts as Michael, Franklin Clinton or Trevor Philips.
Reward
The reward for completing the mission is the ability to collect all thirty submarine parts, which unlocks What Lies Beneath. Abigail Mathers also becomes a contact for Michael.
Trivia
- The in-game name of the mission is What Lies Beneath, which is the mission unlocked after collecting the submarine parts. The name of the mission can only be found at the Rockstar Games Social Club.
- The player should watch out for sharks while collecting the submarine parts.
