Newport is a district in the eastern area of Staunton Island, Liberty City. It is a business district with several stores, office buildings, and apartments. Upon entering Staunton Island, via the Callahan Bridge, Newport is the first district entered. In 1998, this district was under the control of the Forelli Family, but after a gang war, with the help of Toni Cipriani, the Uptown Yardies take over the turf and still control it until at least 2001, during the events of Grand Theft Auto III. Also located in this district are; the docks, where several boats can be found, City Hall, an Ammu-Nation, a Pay 'n' Spray, 8-Ball's bomb shop, and the Newport Multistory Car Park. Yakuza member, Asuka Kasen used to live in a condo by the docks and Toni Cipriani lived in an apartment here during 1998. An overpass bridge is also located in Newport, all the way towards Torrington.
