A Shamal at Los Santos International Airport

The Shamal is an aircraft that draws its influence from both the Learjet 35 and Gulfstream IV. It is a simple to control.

The Shamal first appeared in GTA III and then GTA: Vice City; however, the player could not fly the plane. In GTA: Liberty City Stories, the player can stand on the plane's wing while it's accelerating to fly away but will most likely fall after a while.

The first time the player could fly the Shamal was Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. The plane's interior can be seen during the mission Freefall and, despite its interior size, can only transport Carl Johnson. The interior view also shows seven windows, yet when viewed from the outside, only four are visible. The Shamal can be found at Los Santos International Airport, Easter Bay International Airport and Las Venturas Airport. It is always seen unmarked.

In Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories, the Shamal is seen entering and exiting the Escobar International Airport from time to time, a glitch allows the player to enter the plane however unable to control it.

In GTA IV, the Shamal is no longer a flyable aircraft (as with all planes). It can be found at Francis International Airport, and features an updated design. The Shamal also appears in the multiplayer mission Hangman's NOOSE, where four players must hold back the NOOSE team and escort Kenny Petrovic to the safepoint.
