== Introduction ==

Were you surprised? Brucie's first mission for you opens with a hit. One Lyle Rivas has crossed him, and he needs you to teach the man that you don't fuck with Brucie.
This is [[Brucie Kibbutz]]'s first mission for you. Lyle Rivas has been ignoring and aggravating Brucie, now Brucie wants you to take him out.

This is much more complicated than it sounds. Brucie doesn't know where Rivas is hiding, so you'll need to track him down. For this, you'll need to enlist the "help" of the LCPD.
Towards the end of the cutscene, Brucie tells you that you need to hack a LCPD police car to find Lyle Rivas and dispose of him.

Simple enough, eh? Your first task is to find a police car. There's several ways to go about this, and the easiest is to head on up to Mohawk Street (of the Comrades Bar, Russian clothes shop, and Broker Safehouse fame). Two blocks north from the Russian clothes shop sits the Hove Beach Police Station, and in front of that is a police car. Bust it open like any parked car, hotwire it, and drive off.

You may also get a LCPD police cruiser by calling 911 to request police to your area.

The reason for driving off is that this usually attracts a lot of attention (you are stealing a cop cruiser from right outside the police station, what did you expect?), and you'll need to be able to drive in order to evade the cop patrols- Pay 'N Sprays don't do cop cars. If you wreck the car in the process, you'll either need to wait for it to respawn or try one of the riskier methods. These include (as Brucie suggests) dialing 911 to summon the cops to your location, or simply stopping a cop car on the street and sticking it up. These methods will also earn you stars, however, and are guaranteed to have armed cops with them, so they may not be the best ideas.

Anyhow. Once you get your cruiser, park it anywhere and you'll call Brucie with the info. He supplies the target's name and tells you to use the cop computer to find him. Power up the computer, go to "Search Database", and enter Rivas' name.
Once you get your cruiser, Brucie will call you explaining how to use the police computer to look up Rivas and track him down. This acts as a tutorial for looking up [[Most Wanted]] criminals and such.
As you input "Lyle Rivas" you discover he's hiding in northern Broker, and it gives you the option to add his location as a waypoint. This is recommended for easier travel.

Give it a minute, and it'll pull up his entry. He's hiding in northern Broker, and it gives you the option to add his location as a waypoint. Do so.

What happens next is up to you. There will be a long, irritating car chase to follow, and you have several options. If you want, you can pursue him in the cop car, and the car's ability to clear a path on the road with its siren is immensely useful. This, however, will likely mean the destruction of the cop car, and if you don't want to have to go get another one all over again later it may be wise to park this somewhere (say, your Residential Parking in Broker) and find a faster car for the chase.

Anyhow, choose your steed, then follow the waypoint to the townhouse complex. Walk on in and Lyle will bail out the window. Head back outside to watch him get into his car- you can't stop him from reaching it, so your only option is to chase him down.

You'll have to cause enough damage to Lyle's Banshee to force him to abandon it (I.E., enough damage to set it on fire), and this is easier said than done. For one, auto-targeting doesn't work in cars, so you'll have to manually aim at him. For another, he takes a long and annoying path to try and evade you- across Broker, into Dukes, around Francis International, and north across the bridge into Bohan, where he begins a long circle of that borough. During this chase he'll cause three scripted hazards to come sailing at you in addition to the unscripted traffic- the first, a van veering to block the highway as you approach the airport, the second, knocking open a barrel transport truck as you leave the airport, and the third, knocking a lumber truck on the bridge to Bohan. All three are avoidable, if highly annoying, but if you get too far from Lyle the mission fails, and if you crash more than once, this is likely to happen.

So don't let it. Keep on his tail until Bohan, focussing on surviving the drive, and then start pounding his car when he begins his big loops. Eventually, he'll bail out- get out yourself and pump him full of lead until he stops moving (be sure to do this relatively quickly if you're close to his car, as the amount of damage needed to get him to stop is the amount needed to set it on a course to exploding).

If you haven't killed him yet, start shooting Lyle until he dies. The mission ends with Niko calling Brucie to report that Lyle has been eliminated and Brucie tells you that a lot of people will be grateful.
