*El Burro has a similar appearance to a character of the same name that appears in Grand Theft Auto 1, but this is not the same character, because the storylines in GTA and GTA III take places in a different fictional timelines in a different fictional universes created by the game developers from a scratch in each case. It's just one of many references in this game to the very first GTA.
*Characters of the same name appear in GTA 1 and Chinatown Wars, but since the games are of two different storylines and canons, they are not the same characters and only referances to previous games.
*A character called El Burro also appears in Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars as a drug dealer.
*As a noun, "El Burro" is Spanish for "The Donkey" and as a adjective, it means "Stupid" or "Rough".

El Burro (English: The Donkey) is a character in Grand Theft Auto III, and is also mentioned in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. He is a prominent porn star and leader of the Diablos gang in Liberty City. He is voiced by Chris Phillips, who also voiced Bitch'n' Dog Food Factory owner/manager Marty Chonks.

Character history

El Burro is prominent in the porn industry, achieving notable credibility by 1986; In the mission Supply & Demand (GTA Vice City), Ricardo Diaz complains that his VCR "eats my favorite El Burro movie, it die!". By 1997 he had presumably found his way into a leadership role in the Diablos street gang in Liberty City, as the police began surveillance of him that year (according to GTA III's official website). In 1998, they were backed by Sicilain crime lord Massimo Torini, as part of a plot against the Leones, which allowed them to establish their headquarters in Hepburn Heights.

By 2001, El Burro's gang was involved with wars against the Leones, Triads and Yardies (after insulting Queen Lizzy). He is still involved in the porn industry, releasing a 3-part magazine series titled Donkey Does Dallas. He employs Claude (who was ironically a favorite Leone hitman) to carry out assassinations and other tasks.
