"I need you to get me some military hardware from Fort Baxter. Get one of the tanks and hightail it to my lockup near Little Havana." | |||
"Doesn't sound easy," Pete remarked. "What do you need with a tank?" | |||
"Oh, you'll see. I think you'll like it, and I'll hook you up with a lot of guns. If you find Umberto and his boys, they'll probably help you out." | |||
Pete nodded, left the compound yard, and hailed a taxi. He called Umberto on his way to Little Havana, and saw a group of Cubans w | |||
standing outside the Cuban leader's house. One of them waved at him. | |||
"hey amigo, I'm Rico. Umberto says he can't come, he's ''getting it on'' with some chicas." the gangster rolled rolled his eyes. "But we going to help you get the tank." he gestured at the van parked on the roadside. Six of the Cubans piled in the back, and Rico sat in the front with Pete. | |||
Although he had never gone to Fort Baxter before, he had caught a glimpse of it during his arrival. With Rico's help, he was soon approaching it from the only road. A soldier standing outside the entrance, and waved at them to stop. Several other uniformed troops turned to look at them. | |||
Pete pulled the Pony to a stop, and rolled down his window as the soldier approached the vehicle. "What's your business here, buddy?" he asked warily. | |||
"We've got those guns your Major wanted," he said calmly. | |||
The soldier looked uncertainly at his fellow troops. "Did Major Thomson order arms—?" | |||
Pete flung the door open, knocking him off his feet, pulling his M4 out of the van and stepping out as the Cubans all did so as well. He quickly killed the downed soldier, and ran around to the back of the Pony as the surprised troops recovered their composture and fired on the van. | |||
