Grenade Launcher
The Grenade Launcher is a weapon that appeared in the downloadable episodic pack The Lost and Damned for Grand Theft Auto IV. The grenade launcher is about as effective as a pipe bomb, but has further range. It is best for removing cover, such as a car, however, the grenade does not land in a particular spot, making it less accurate. This is a very powerful weapon, but it is unpredictable and you can accidentally fire a shell at your feet and not notice until you die. Unlike the Rocket Launcher, the cartridge does not explode on impact. A 7 or so second fuse is what detonates the cartridge. While not accurate in most respects, this will kill enemies, blow up cars, and remove the rotor from helicopters.
Trivia
- It was originally going to make an appearance in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City but was taken out without any explanation.
- Whenever a grenade from this hits the rotor on any helicopter, the helicopter will either instantly lose its rotor, lose its tail, explode, or start smoking.
- The grenade launcher is the only weapon from The Lost and Damned to be available in The Ballad of Gay Tony. It features an interesting improvement in which it explodes on impact instead of waiting several seconds before it explodes. Also the time it takes for the grenade to explode has been shortened to about 4 seconds.
