The police variant of the Cheetah is an undercover police version of the Cheetah used by the Vice City Police Department (VCPD) in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories. It is known simply as the Cheetah in GTA Vice City with Vice Cheetah as its internal model name, and the VCPD Cheetah in GTA Vice City Stories.
Description
The police Cheetah is exactly the same as a regular Cheetah (complete with a variety of body colors), based on a 1980s Ferrari Testarossa, albeit with the addition of a dashboard-mounted red strobe light, an emergency radio, and siren.
Like most law enforcement vehicles, entry into the car allows the player to activate the Vigilante side mission. Incidentally, the VCPD Cheetah is the best vehicle to use for the Vigilante mission in GTA Vice City and GTA Vice City Stories, as the VCPD Cheetah is the fastest law enforcement vehicle in GTA Vice City and GTA Vice City Stories. It is also one of the two respray-able police vehicles in GTA Vice City, the other being the FBI Washington. In GTA Vice City Stories, however, the VCPD Cheetah cannot be resprayed.
The police Cheetah is normally driven by two undercover agents equipped with Uz-I sub-machine guns who chase you upon attaining a 3-star wanted level; given the performance of the vehicle, evading the police Cheetah is nearly impossible in this case.

-
The VCPD Cheetah in GTA Vice City Stories (Rear quarter view).
Locations
- GTA Vice City
- Little Havana, Vice City Mainland, behind the police station (not available in the original PS2 version).
Trivia
- The GTA Vice City rendition of the car shares the same range of side mirror designs as a regular GTA Vice City Cheetah, appearing with either two side mirrors, a single raised side mirror on the driver side, or no side mirrors at all. This variety is not seen on the GTA Vice City Stories version, as it is only available with two side mirrors.
- The two undercover officers that pursue you in GTA Vice City and GTA Vice City Stories strongly resemble Sonny Crockett and Ricardo Tubbs, the primary characters from the landmark 1980s TV series Miami Vice. Furthermore, the Cheetah itself is styled after the 1986 Ferrari Testarossa, Crockett and Tubbs' vehicle of choice in the latter three seasons of the show.
- In GTA Vice City, the VCPD Cheetah is one of the vehicles that the police radio will refuse to classify, despite looking identical to a regular Cheetah (which is described as a "sports car"). If the player has a wanted level for more than two minutes inside the VCPD Cheetah, the police radio will call out "Suspect on foot" after the player gets out of the car.
