Ran Fa Li was born in China and at an unknown time joined the [[San Fierro Triads|Triads]], rising through the organisation before moving to the west coast of the [[United States of America|United States]]. He later cemented his place in the Triads and became the Shuk Foo, In [[1992]] he visits [[San Fierro]] and meets the leader of the group in [[State of San Andreas]], [[Gang Leaders|Dai Dai Lo]] [[Wu Zi Mu]], leader of the [[Mountain Cloud Boys]] gang, travelling with his translator [[Su Xi Mu]], who is able to translate his grunts into English.

[[Carl Johnson]] first meets Ran Fa Li when visiting Wu Zi and volunteers to retrieve a package from [[Easter Bay International Airport]], which he was [[Ran Fa Li (mission)|successfully completed]] after Wu Zi suggested that using Carl (not a Triad) would draw less suspicion from the recently arrived Vietnamese gang, the [[Da Nang Boys]]. Carl later [[Lure (GTA SA)|draws Da Nang Boys gangsters]] to [[Whetstone]] from Wu Zi's [[Wu Zi Mu's Apartment|apartment]] in [[Chinatown, San Fierro|Chinatown]] to allow Fa Li to escape. Fa Li, Wu Zi and Carl later become business partners, [[Fish in a Barrel|taking equal shares]] in [[The Four Dragons Casino]] in [[The Strip]], [[Las Venturas]].
