In contrast to the verbose protagonists of the later GTA games, [[Tommy Vercetti]], [[Carl Johnson]], [[Toni Cipriani]], [[Victor Vance]], and [[Niko Bellic]] Claude possesses qualities of a silent protagonist in GTA III, never seen or heard uttering a single word throughout his appearances (in GTA III, he has been heard uttering mild sounds of pain when injured or killed). During the course of the game, Maria makes a telephone call to [[Lazlow]]'s show on [[Chatterbox FM]], saying that she's met a new man but "he don't talk too much." Claude continued to be a silent character throughout GTA San Andreas; Carl Johnson himself also references (and curses) Claude's silence in his rage after seeing the run-down garage he won from Claude in a drag race.

*1992 - Living in [[San Andreas]], partaking in street and off road races, Claude Speed meets [[Catalina]] who offers him the opportunity to travel to [[Liberty City]] for a cut in a bank heist. He agrees, gives his [[San Fierro]] auto parts garage to [[CJ]] after losing to him in a race, and leaves with [[Catalina]].
<br />
*2001 - After staying in San Andreas with Catalina for a few years, they finally fly to Liberty City for the bank job. Catalina teams up with the [[Colombian Cartel]] and [[Miguel]], then go ahead with the heist. Betraying Claude just after the escape, Catalina shoots him twice, leaving him to bleed in an alley next to the bank, he is thus captured by police and taken to hospital and then, jail. After his trial, Claude is taken on a routine transfer to Liberty Penitentiary, in convoy with scarred bomb expert Mullan, aka [[8-Ball]], as well as an elderly [[Oriental Gentleman]]. The convoy is ambushed by the Cartel, kidnapping the Oriental Gentleman. Claude and 8-Ball use the chance to escape and take out the police guards, shortly after, a bomb dropped by the Cartel explodes, devastating the [[Callahan Bridge]] and cutting off [[Portland]] from the rest of the city. After travelling to a hideout in the [[Red Light District]], 8-Ball introduces Claude to [[Luigi Goterelli]], a member of the [[Leone Family Mafia]], and a major influence in Portland. Using his new found mob connections, Claude works his way up the crime ladder of Liberty, eventually meeting the Don of the Leone Mafia, [[Salvatore Leone]] and coincidentally, his current girlfriend [[Maria Latore]]. Claude does a number of errands for Maria and she becomes somewhat attracted to him, even calling into the local talk radio show [[Chatterbox]] to share her feelings for her new love interest that "don't talk too much". After Salvatore orders Claude to blow up the Cartel's [[SPANK]] ship with the help of 8-Ball, he attempts to assasinate Claude by rigging a car with a bomb. Maria warns Claude before he can reach the car and asks to meet him on a pier. She explains that Salvatore is paranoid and doesn't trust anyone, so Claude then travels to [[Staunton Island]] with Maria and starts running errands for her friend in the Japanese Yakuza, [[Asuka Kasen]]. Eventually Asuka is killed by Catalina, who also kidnaps Maria and leaves a ransom note for $500,000, to be delivered to the Cartel Mansion in [[Shoreside Vale]]. Claude takes the money, but Maria is not returned and Catalina makes an escape in a helicopter to the [[Cochrane Dam]] whilst Claude fights his way out of the Cartel Mansion's compound, and gives chase once again. After a showdown with the Cartel at the dam, Claude destroys Catalina's helicopter, killing her. Satisfied with his revenge, he exits the dam with Maria who begins talking loudly and complaining about her broken nails. Presumably sick of her whining, Claude shoots and kills Maria, showing that he was never interested in her, and only seeked revenge on Catalina.
<br />
: Still living in Liberty, Claude continues his life as a carjacker. After working for several gangs in the area, he steals a van carrying [[Zaibatsu]] merchandise. This enrages the Zaibatsu and they send an assassin to kill Claude. After being shot in the back several times, Claude once again falls to a pool of blood to be found by paramedics and police. He is then cryogenically frozen to await trail in the future.
<br />
*2013 - Claude awakes in [[Anywhere City]], suffering from amnesia. Possibly being bailed out by the Zaibatsu, he is released from custody and begins to work for them, starting at the bottom of the crime ladder once again. He eventually takes over each district of Anywhere City and becomes "King". His story from then onwards is unknown..
