Patrick Ligner is a lawyer and co-founder of the Goldberg, Ligner and Shyster law firm, alongside Tom Goldberg and Dick Shyster. He is not seen during Grand Theft Auto IV, but his photo can be found on the official GTA IV website (in real life) and on a portrait in the GLS lobby (in-game).

Soon after graduating law school, he bankrupted the school with a single lawsuit and did the same to his former undergraduate college, high school and elementary school. His law firm's website promotes his book "Five Easy Ways to Spot a Lawsuit: Rudimentary Case Construction," a Liberty Tree bestseller and Weazel News Book of the Week. GTA IV's website reads "master of the drawn-out courtesy call, he once billed 9500 hours in a single year" (a year only has 8760). They also elaborate that Ligner has a drinking problem and runs the firm's summer associate program, where he makes all the female students sign a document saying they will not sue for "inappropriate conduct".

He is expected to be taking the remainder of cases that Dick Shyster takes over from Tom Goldberg after Goldberg's death, as it's said that Shyster will be taking most of Goldberg's cases.

Trivia

In the mission Wrong is Right, an email from a "Larry Ligner" sent from ligner@goldberglignerandshyster.com can be found on Oleg Minkov's computer. This would imply that Larry was Patrick's original name.

His character model (which is also used for Mr. Parker) is also the model used for a generic Italian mobster.
