The Truth, at an unknown time, became both a hippie (possibly due to his upbrining) and a drug manufacturer, purchasing [[Camper#The Mothership|The Mothership]] as a means of moving the drugs. By [[1989]] he had become an aging hippie, meeting [[Dwaine]] and [[Jethro]] in [[San Fierro]]. It is also likely that at this time he had become involved in the various conspiracies against the [[United States of America|American]] government. He had, some time prior to [[1992]], made the acquintance of both electronics expert [[Zero]] and corrupt [[Los Santos Police Department|police]] officer [[Frank Tenpenny]], who began to use some of the drugs grown on The Truth's farm in [[Leafy Hollow]].

Carl later receives a [[Cell Phone|phone]] call from Truth, who is in [[Los Santos in GTA III Era|Los Santos]] and unsure of how he got there, after a night on a "peyote safari" with a [[The Gurning Chimps|band]] and its [[Kent Paul|manager]]. He asks Carl to find them and make sure they're safe, which later provides Carl a way into working at [[Caligula's Palace]], where he later commits a [[Breaking the Bank at Caligula's|heist]] with the help of the [[San Fierro Triads]].

The Truth later joins Carl, his brother [[Sweet]], Carl's sister [[Kendl Johnson|Kendl]] and her boyfriend [[Cesar Vialpando]], rapper [[Madd Dogg]] and singer [[Maccer]] at Madd Dogg's [[Madd Dogg's Mansion|mansion]] to watch the trial of his former associate, Frank Tenpenny, later witnessing his acquital and the start of the [[Los Santos Riots|riots]] in the city. He is later seen at the [[Johnson House]], witnessing the death of Tenpenny after he had driven a [[Firetruck|firetruck]] off a bridge and into [[Grove Street]]. He joins the Johnson brothers, Kendl and Cesar talking about their future, meeting Madd Dogg, Maccer, [[Kent Paul]] and [[Ken Rosenberg]] who arrive to celebrate Madd Dogg's first gold record since his return.
