'''Alderney''' is a borough located west of [[Algonquin]] in [[Liberty City in GTA IV|Liberty City]] that is featured in [[Grand Theft Auto IV]] and its expansions.  It parodies real-world northern [http://wikipedia.org/New Jersey|New Jersey].  Due to hardware limitations in the Nintendo DS, Alderney was omitted from [[Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars]].  Alderney is composed of 10 of the metropolitan area's 65 neighborhoods, and contains the largest degree of characteristic variation out of Liberty City's five boroughs. Alderney, belonging to its own [[State of Alderney|state]], is technically independent from [[Liberty State]], yet is considered part of Liberty City's metropolitan area (just as part of New York City's metropolitan area includes neighborhoods in New Jersey).  Alderney is only a little larger than [[Algonquin]] in GTA IV; there may be more of the state which is simply omitted so that the game area can form an island (a practice seen in every GTA game since [[Grand Theft Auto: Vice City]]). At the start of Grand Theft Auto IV, both Alderney and Algonquin are closed off due to threats of terrorist attack. They are, however, accessible from the start in [[The Lost and Damned]] and [[The Ballad of Gay Tony]].  Alderney is unlocked after completing the mission [[Three Leaf Clover]].

Crime and corruption are no less common in Alderney than in Liberty City. The Pegorino Family and the Korean Mob conduct organized crime from Alderney, and Mafia families from Liberty City, such as the Ancelottis and Pavanos, also run operations there.  Alderney chapters of [[The Lost]], [[The Angels of Death|Angels of Death]], and [[M.O.B.]] also conduct criminal activity in Alderney.

Alderney police wear uniforms resembling those of the New Jersey State Police.  They drive LCPD vehicles.

Alderney's dining services mostly come from fast food chains, such as the Burger Shot in Westdyke, and the hot dog and peanut vendors spread throughout Alderney City.  Clucking Bell and Wigwam are also seen around Berchem.  Alderney also has traditional restaurants such as Mr. Fuk's Rice Box, a Korean restaurant located in Alderney City.
