  • An update to Grand Theft Auto Online allows players to create their own "Capture" mode that can be published to the Rockstar Games Social Club. Also part of the update, "The High Life" adds new vehicles, including the Dinka Thrust motorcycle, the Dewbauchee Massacro, and the Pegassi Zentorno, a new weapon, the Bullpup Rifle, new wardrobe options, and this update will feature multi-property ownership in Grand Theft Auto Online. It allows players to own two distinct properties (with garages) simultaneously. It also adds the "Mental State" player statistic, which is designed to let players see just how passive or psychotically unhinged fellow players in a GTA Online session really are, and a slew of new Jobs. This update adds Heists in GTA Online. [4]
  • On March 4, an update to Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online, titled the "Business Update", adds two new weapons, the Heavy Pistol and the Special Carbine, four new vehicles, the Albany Alpha, the Dinka Jester, the Grotti Turismo R and the Vestra airplane. The update adds an expanded wardrobe for all characters including formal and casual business attire, hairstyles, currency themed tattoos and a collection of masks.[5]
  • A new update titled the Valentines Day Massacre Special adds a new weapon, the Gusenberg Sweeper, a new Albany Roosevelt that can be found inside the protagonist's garages in Story Mode and can be purchased on the Legendary Motorsport website in Grand Theft Auto Online, new clothes for players including double-breasted suits, flapper dresses, novelty masks and more, and the update adds 10 new jobs in a variety of modes in Grand Theft Auto Online. These items will be available thorough the end of February - and once acquired, they will be kept in the player's inventory for good.[6]
  • An update was released for Grand Theft Auto Online as a result of a number of players receiving various amounts of in-game cash. Players that innocently received the cash as a result of these exploits but did not engage in cheating to acquire it will not face any further action - the funds will just be removed, and players will keep any items they currently own. Those who actively engaged in cheating and exploiting the game in this manner will, however, be subject to in-game penalties at Rockstar's discretion. The penalties will include being placed in isolated cheater pools or banned from Grand Theft Auto Online altogether.[7]
  • An update to Grand Theft Auto Online was released on Christmas. It adds snow to Los Santos and Blaine County and adds a new set of Christmas-themed clothing. The Christmas-themed clothes will be available until January 5th.
  • A new update for Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online adds a Capture mode.
  • The new update for Grand Theft Auto V adds a Creator Mode, allowing players to make custom races and custom deathmatches that can be published on the Rockstar Games Social Club and can be played in Grand Theft Auto Online.[8]

  • In order to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Grand Theft Auto: Vice City release, Rockstar has announced that a 10th Anniversary Edition of the game is to be released for select iOS and Android devices "later this fall". They also have further celebrations planned with "a series of never-before-seen assets and a brand new trailer coming soon".
  • Rocksrar have announced that the 10th Anniversary Edition of GTA Vice City will be released on 6 December 2012. They have also released a list of supported devices.

  • Dan Houser, Vice President of Rockstar Games and the writer of most GTA games, has said Grand Theft Wiki is "amazing and we love it" in an interview with Gamasutra. In the interview, he says the team at Rockstar often check this wiki for bits of obscure information, characters and details from previous games.

  • To celebrate 10 years since the launch of Grand Theft Auto III, Rockstar have released a Q+A answering many questions from fans about Claude's lack of speech, the 9/11 attacks, explanations of character bios, and behind-the-scenes production information - part 1, part 2
  • Limited-edition lithographs are available to purchase at Rockstar Games Warehouse for $25 each; only 500 pieces for each lithograph are made.
  • In celebration of 10 years since GTA III's release, players can ask Rockstar any question about the game (or anything). Is there anything you're dying to know about GTA III's missions, characters, development, cheats, secrets, myths or just what Rockstar think of things like mods? Ask away!
  • GTA III has been released for the Mac App Store. It is currently priced at £10.49 ($14.99 / 11,99 €), but this is twice the price of the Steam version for Windows. GTA Vice City is coming on 25th August, then GTA San Andreas on 1st September. Rockstar previously released Mac versions of these three games on GameTree at the same price.
  • Rockstar has announced that the American release date for Episodes From Liberty City for PlayStation 3 and PC is now April 13th and the European release is now April 16th.
  • On November 10, 2009, the fifth patch (1.0.0.4) was released for the PC version of Grand Theft Auto IV. This update includes general fixes to controls and security and ready for a possible downloadable content on the PC. It also includes versions in other languages, which explains the change in the order of the version number.
  • On 19 June 2009, the fourth patch (1.0.4.0) was released for the PC version of Grand Theft Auto IV. This update ensures all copies of the game are properly aligned for the next gold master build pressing.
  • The Lost and Damned, the first downloadable episode for GTA IV has been released for download through Xbox Live on 17 February 2009. It costs $19.99 or 1600 Microsoft Points, and is exclusive to the Xbox 360.

  • Thailand's largest video game distributor, New Era Interactive Media has told the country's retailers to stop selling Grand Theft Auto IV after an eighteen year old man confessed to robbing and killing a fifty-four year old taxi driver because he "wanted money to play the game."   • Grand Theft Auto IV sold 6 million copies in its first week, worth $500m - a new record for the entire entertainment industry. It is also the #1 played game on Xbox Live, with 2.3m players last week. Check out the statistics on Grand Theft Auto IV.
  • More details have been released about GTA IV, including that it will be set in October 2007 (the initial planned release date), multiple missions can be conducted at one time (managed from Niko's phone), pedestrians can cough/sneeze/smoke/mutter, and the Xbox 360 version of the game is 80% complete at this time.
  • A press release from Rockstar Games issued on 2nd August 2007 stated that Grand Theft Auto IV will be delayed. The game is now scheduled for release in the second quarter of fiscal year 2008, which indicates somewhere between February and April.
  • More details have been revealed about Grand Theft Auto IV, despite Rockstar Games' position that they don't want to sell the game as a feature list, rather an overall experience. There appear to be multiple ways of completing missions, as outlined by multiple possible endings. There are no HUD indicators to specify who is the target - that must be figured out by the player. Multiplayer is accessed through Niko's phone. Cover can be used much like Gears of War. Protagonist Niko Bellic was in the Balkan Police Force, according to his CV (Resumé), and he is adept at shooting, boxing and swimming (which is also a confirmed feature). Also, there will be no references to 9/11 in the game.
  • The July issue of Official Xbox Magazine in the USA has revealed that when Niko approaches a car from behind in Grand Theft Auto IV, a prompt appears saying "Press LB to open boot" (which means trunk in American). Perhaps this feature could be used for carrying items or even stowing away passengers.
  • UK publication Playstation 3 Unlimited has a new preview of Grand Theft Auto IV, revealing a little bit more information. There are about four different camera angles in the game, including a first-person view in vehicles, where the player can look around. Weather effects aren't merely for show, they will affect gameplay (such as vehicle handling).
  • Rockstar Games announced that a "special edition" of Grand Theft Auto IV will be made available for both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions. The special edition includes a little more than "special editions" usually offer, including exclusive production artwork, exclusive soundtrack CD, presented in a metal GTA safety deposit box with a keychain (for the keys) and a limited edition Rockstar duffel bag. This will cost $90 in the USA.
  • The official PlayStation Magazine UK has revealed a few more things about Grand Theft Auto IV, including details of the technical enhancements, gameplay improvements and mission structure. Visit GTA IV to read more about this.
  • The May 2007 Game Informer magazine has been released to subscribers with an exclusive preview of Grand Theft Auto IV. It has been revealed that the playable protagonist character's name will be: Niko Bellic, the game is set in Liberty City which will be smaller than San Andreas but have less "wasted" open space, and since there is only one city there will be no planes in the game, as there is nowhere to go. The detail will be immense compared to previous games, with effects such as a rising sun casting shadows and reflecting off glass, potholes in the road and pedestrians with interchanging clothes, hair and actions.
