Police Officers

This article details what police officers in the Grand Theft Auto series look like in each game.

Grand Theft Auto III

In GTA III the cops wear an all-blue unform consisting of a jacket/shirt, pants, and a hat. They are only armed with a Pistol, which they will use when the player has a wanted level of two stars or higher, although it is implied that they keep a Shotgun in their cruisers even tough they do not carry nor use it.

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City

In GTA Vice City the cops wear a uniform consisting of a sandy brown short sleeved shirt and dark brown pants. They are armed with a Nightstick and Pistol, which they will use on criminals or the player; the nightstick is only used if the player has a one star wanted level, at higher levels, naturally, they will resort to using their firearms.

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas

In GTA San Andreas the cops have different clothing based on the area that they occupy. Officers of the Los Santos Police Department and the San Fierro Police Department wear a uniform consisting of a black short sleeved shirt, and black pants. Officers of the Las Venturas Police Department wear a similar uniform, except that it consists of tan/beige clothing. The police officers in rural San Andreas wear a uniform consisting of a black short sleeved shirt and tan/beige pants; they often wear a typical "sheriff" hat as well. they are armed with a nightstick and carry pistol as in other games put in higher levels some of them carry a shotgun.

Grand Theft Auto liberty city stories.

they have darker all blue uniform and they have pocket in there belt with a pistol and maybe a nightstick.

Grand Theft Auto vice city stories.

even tough its the same short top they wore a green pants and armed with a pistol and a nightstick.

Grand Theft Auto IV

In GTA IV the cops have uniforms similar to those worn by NYPD officers in real life, and there is also alot of variation in terms of clothing. The overall uniform consists of a dark blue long sleeved or short sleeved shirt, dark blue pants, and a dark blue hat. Cops will often have dark blue jackets on as well. some cops are fat while some are skinny. they have raincoats and sometimes have a tie and then theres a regular shirt. some cops carry coffee around and maybe some other drink or food around. if you shoot an officer there is an apperance of blood on the officer where you shot him. these cops do not have nightsticks instead they carry pistol and also a shotgun in higher wanted levels.
