See: Category:Copyright for a complete list of copyright templates

Certain templates can be used on articles and images to display the copyright information for that page, section or image. Using templates is preferable to manually writing the copyright information for reasons of completeness, categorisation, relevant links and updatability.

Articles

All articles on Grand Theft Wiki fall under the GNU FDL (see copy). This means that anybody may use content from Grand Theft Wiki for research purposes, either personal, commercial or for another site. However, content should not be copied directly to another site without gaining permission from a Manager first, on the Copyright discussion page. No copyright template is required for normal text.

The exceptions to this are mainly the quotes used in certain articles, and the names of companies and products - these are used on Grand Theft Wiki in the belief that they qualify as fair use, and do not detract anything from the Copyright owners or impede their right to sell the Copyright material. For this reason, a copyright template is not required so long as the source is either mentioned or linked to on the same page, usually in the References section of an article.

Images

By default, images uploaded to Grand Theft Wiki fall under the GNU FDL as applies for articles. However, different rules apply to images taken from other sources, or if the creator wishes to use a separate licence for their work. of Grand Theft Auto games are believed to be fair use, as they do not detract from the experience of playing the game, so does not replace the purchase of the game. All screenshots on Grand Theft Wiki should use Template:Screenshot (except where a more specific template is available):

{{screenshot}}
{{{1}}} logo

This is a screenshot of a GTA game - a copyrighted video game by Rockstar Games.

On Grand Theft Wiki, it is believed that the use of web-resolution screenshots, for identification and critical commentary on the game in question or the copyrighted characters or items depicted on the screenshot, qualifies as fair use under Copyright law, as such display does not 'significantly impede the right of the copyright holder to sell the copyrighted material', is 'not being used to generate profit in this context', and presents ideas that 'cannot be exhibited otherwise'. Grand Theft Auto games are copyrighted video games, developed and published by Rockstar Games. To re-use this image, you must link back to this page.

See Grand Theft Wiki:Copyright for more detail on our copyright policy.

For Grand Theft Auto IV screenshots, Template:gtaiv screenshot should be used instead:
