ROLEPLAYING IN GTA
Roleplaying is a method of playing games where the player makes up their own storyline and experience. This method of gameplay is favoured by many over simply completing the storyline missions, and even side missions.

In this article we will be giving you all some tips for adding a roleplaying experience to GTA, a game that usually isn't associated with roleplaying. Remember that you don't habe to all these things when roleplaying in GTA and if you did that would get awfully boring almost. These are just general tips for Roleplaying
In GTA games, there are many opportunities for pretending the player or protagonist has a job, such as being a police officer, FBI agent, airline pilot, limousine chauffeur, drug runner or mass murderer. There is also a lot of scope for acting like real life, such as eating, going to entertainment venues, and purchasing vehicles/property rather than stealing.

What is Roleplaying
Some players enjoy roleplay as it makes the game more realistic, often giving them an insight into a life they would prefer to have, or can look forward to when they're older. Other players enjoy the opportunity to do things they can't do in real life.
Roleplaying is when somebody pretends that a game is real. For example in GTA you would pretend to need 3 meals a day or something along those lines. Many people do it to add another layer to there gaming experience. It also can make the game more challenging. All these things will be explained in detail in this article.

Eating
Most people will eat 2 to 3 meals a day so why should Nico be any different. Try to have at least 1 meal a day, and shake things up sometimes by going to a different restaurant other than Cluckin' Dell or Burger Shot, for example the 69th Street Diner on Bart Street near where you begin the game is a cool little place to go, or you can also pretend to get some food from one the Superstar cafe's around Algonquin. A hotdog or some nuts is always a good snack for between meals.

In everyday life people DON'T steal a million cars and trash them everyday, or take a a car just because it's really cool looking or because it's an ice-cream truck. So when you choose a car (preferably from a car dealership, a good one to take a car from is the Auto Eroticar in Alderney). But generally people don't know how to fly a Helicopter, well our man Nico does because he was in the army and thats where he learnt to fly. If and when you do crash a car (lets admit it's inevitable) you should call the ambulance and a firetruck, just in case. Now for the extreme roleplayers out there, there is something else you can do. And that is obey the road rules.* This would only really apply when driving around in between missions and for missions that don't involve a chase. Also if you are a very poor person than you wouldn't have a really flash car, or even 2 cars so try to pick a vehicle class for your social standing. Although if your playing a completely psychotic criminal and think nothing of human life then go ahead and kill maime and steal anything that isn't nailed down and that the game will let you.
In real life, most people don't steal and trash dozens of cars each day, nor drive random vehicles like ice-cream vans or fire trucks, nor are able to fly a plane/helicopter. To make the GTA experience more realistic, many players prefer to purchase one or two permanent vehicles which they keep in garages and maintain at various in-game facilities such as Pay 'n' Spray.

They would often purchase vehicles which are appropriate to their role-playing character. Most normal people would have a simple sedan rather than an Infernus or Comet; whereas a celebrity or highly-paid person would have a very flashy vehicle. It is also worth remembering that most workers don't take their work vehicle home at night, so they would swap their police car for their personal vehicle after work.

Other players also try to stick to the rules of the road. This includes driving within the speed of the traffic, not running red lights, and not driving on the wrong side of the road or off-road.
In the beginning of the game your a very poor person, and your clothes represent that. You should and get your clothes to reflect how much money you have and in a way, how far through the game you are. When Brucie send you a message at some point during the game saying that you should check out Perseus that is the time it's acceptable to wear perseus clothing. While your in Broker and Bohan only wear Russian Clothes not only because that's all you can wear but because it suits your standing in Liberty City's underground network.

Crime and Missions
Clothing
If you rear end a policeman stop and let him arrest you, if you don't then it's all down hill from there. Now this is a game that is all about crime I mean, the game is called Grand Theft Auto. But there are some exceptions, to being a crazy crime lord, such as the aformentione rearing of a policman, that's a no-no, If you plan on stealing from one the stores in Liberty City that you can raid then wear the Ski mask that you get after completing the mission Three Leaf Clover for Packie. With missions try to do one a mission a day, most criminals don't just constantly do mission after mission without sleep. And when you have multiple mission givers, do a mission for each of them, spread the Niko-style justice around all of the people of Liberty City. People also almost never drive along the side walk just to see how much blood splatter they can get on the hood of their car so don't really do that.
Clothing should also reflect the status of the character. At the start of most GTA games, the protagonist is poor, at the bottom of the criminal food chain, and the choice of clothing represents that. Petty criminals and average workers would wear different clothes to highly-paid businessmen or celebrities.

Guns and Ammunition
Eating
Even though there is a ammo limit in place that is still an ureasonable amout of firepower for one man to carry. So choose 1, maybe 2 guns and some 'nades or Molotoves and go with those. If you have a car with you then you can take a rocket launcher. But you should try to stay close to your car so that you can justify having 8 missiles. And that brings us to ammo. Nico must have very deep pockets if he can carry 1400 Pistol rounds, 80 Shotgun shells 570 Assualt Rifle bullets, all there respective gunsand still have room for all that money* and grenades  So choose maybe for example  a pistol, with 50-60 shots* and an Assault Rifle maybe 100-200 shots and your set with a3 or 4 grenades. With Molotov Cocktails however because of thier made-on-the-fly nature you could carry around a full ammo load and just say that you carry around some spare rag and found the beer bottles tghat are required.
One of the more mundane experiences in life is eating. In most GTA games, the player does not have to eat, although it does regenerate health. Some players get their character to eat 2 or 3 meals a day. They can also vary meals between fast food outlets, restaurants and shops or vending machines.

Friends and Relationships
Sleep
With the girlfriends I think that you should only have one at a time simply becuase generally people aren't usually bigamists, agin you could be if you wanted to With the friends you can have, you should try and maintain good relationships with the ones that give you missions because people aren't going to give jobs to people they don't like or trust and another thing you could do is whenveer you want to do a mission is take the mission giver out on a friend date thing so that they will trust you that bit more and let you do this for them
Missions can be done continuously end-to-end without sleep, however this is unrealistic. Some players prefer to let their character sleep every night, and only do one or two missions per in-game day.

Most people don't commit murder on a daily basis, so this is often avoided in the roleplay experience. The police are present in all GTA games, and will pursue and arrest (or kill) the player if they commit a crime. Some players will surrender to the police if they commit a crime, as most people would do in real life, rather than attempt to escape. However, as crime is a major part of the gameplay experience, others will escape and spend their life hiding from the police, rather than being best friends with them 5 minutes after losing their wanted level.

Now I don't have GTAIV on PC so I don't know much about the mods out there or even really what you could do with the GTA source code but I imagine that there would be "added realism mods", much like the ones for Oblivion and Morrowind and they would also add to the Roleplaying experience.

Roleplaying is a method of playing games where the player makes up their own storyline and experience. This method of gameplay is favoured by many over simply completing the storyline missions, and even side missions.

Some players enjoy roleplay as it makes the game more realistic, often giving them an insight into a life they would prefer to have, or can look forward to when they're older. Other players enjoy the opportunity to do things they can't do in real life.

This article discusses some aspects of roleplay in GTA games. Many players will drift in and out of various aspects of roleplay, whereas a few do stick religiously to the rules they have given themselves.

Driving and Vehicles

Clothing

Clothing should also reflect the status of the character. At the start of most GTA games, the protagonist is poor, at the bottom of the criminal food chain, and the choice of clothing represents that. Petty criminals and average workers would wear different clothes to highly-paid businessmen or celebrities.

Eating

One of the more mundane experiences in life is eating. In most GTA games, the player does not have to eat, although it does regenerate health. Some players get their character to eat 2 or 3 meals a day. They can also vary meals between fast food outlets, restaurants and shops or vending machines.

Sleep

Missions can be done continuously end-to-end without sleep, however this is unrealistic. Some players prefer to let their character sleep every night, and only do one or two missions per in-game day.

Crime

Most people don't commit murder on a daily basis, so this is often avoided in the roleplay experience. The police are present in all GTA games, and will pursue and arrest (or kill) the player if they commit a crime. Some players will surrender to the police if they commit a crime, as most people would do in real life, rather than attempt to escape. However, as crime is a major part of the gameplay experience, others will escape and spend their life hiding from the police, rather than being best friends with them 5 minutes after losing their wanted level.

Guns and Ammunition

Some players find it unrealistic to carry massive amounts of weaponry and ammunition, so will ration themselves to a realistic amount. Also, it is not common to see people walking around with miniguns or RPG launchers, so these are often avoided.

Friends and Relationships

In Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, it is possible to have more than one girlfriend at a time. However, this isn't realistic and bigamy should be avoided. Some players also try to maintain relationships with a small number of key friends, rather than the constant cycle of befriending and betrayal that the missions condone.
