Sentinel design influences

While I can see the inlfuence from Buick, I also see a strong influence from BMW, particularly with the GTA:VC version of the Sentinel. It reminds me of a 7-series, e.g. a 735 or 740, with the XS possibly being an upgrade to a 750iL or something similar...what does everyone think? This is particularly evident in the grille: note how it slopes back toward the car as you go from hood to front bumper, just as BMW grilles used to back in the mid-80s. BMW

I think the Sentinel's in GTA III and GTA SA were based on the E34 (1988-1996) BMW 5 series. The Sentinel from GTA VC looks like the E28 (1982-1988) 5 Series. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW_5_Series

Well the reason I don't think that it is a BMW is because the lights aren't round. Buick Centuries also have that weirdly slanted grille. The name also sounds vaguely similar. There also might be a possibility that it is a mix of the two.

STD

On the back of the spoiler in GTA4, it says 'STD: Sentinel Tuning Division' but the article says it could be aftermarket. STD sounds like an in-company tuning division, obviously. Ess-Tee 11:41, 24 May 2009 (UTC)

Separate XS

I think the Sentinel XS section should be separated into it's own article. Just because it has pretty much the same model with little difference doesn't mean they should be counted in one. The fact that when you enter the XS variant in-game pops up a different name means that it should have it's own article. (IMO) -- GTA 4 PC 11:28, 10 June 2009 (UTC)

But what about the Sentinel XS in GTA IV? It is just a regular Sentinel with a spoiler and different badging, no performance difference. So it just says "Sentinel" when you enter it. Maybe have this mentioned on both pages or something.--Thescarydude 14:08, 10 June 2009 (UTC)

The Name

According to some online dictionaries Sentinel means Guard this is refferenced on Liberty City Stories because all of Mayor R.C Holes Guards drive Sentinels. can I add the fact about the name to the trivia section.Andrew nicholson 16:44, July 24, 2010 (UTC)
