Template:Country/doc

This template is a simple, case-insensitive switch that converts a nationality/demonym (or a country's own name) into its standardised country name.

Usage

{{Country|american}}   → United States
{{Country|US}}         → United States
{{Country|british}}    → United Kingdom
{{Country|italian}}    → Italy

There is one parameter (unnamed, {{{1}}}): any recognised nationality, demonym, abbreviation, or country name, in any case.

If the input doesn't match any recognised value, it is returned unchanged (so an unrecognised value will display as typed, rather than showing an error).

Note: this template's normalization logic overlaps with {{Nationality}}, which performs a similar conversion. Check which one is already used on the infobox/field you're editing before adding the other.
