GTA IV Police Maverick

The Police Maverick is the police version of the normal Maverick helicopter. It has been featured in all but one of the GTA III era games, as well as Grand Theft Auto IV; however, it was not a playable vehicle in Grand Theft Auto III. In Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories it is also not available in a normal game, but can be obtained by a third party trainer program. It is available in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and is usually always parked on the roof of the main police station of the city. It controls similar to the normal Maverick. The only differences are the police markings. When flown by the police units once the player obtains a 3-star wanted level, the helicopter can drop SWAT units on ropes, and also has an "invisible" machine gun on the fuselage, as well as a searchlight. All these mentioned features do not exist when the player flies this helicopter. In GTA IV, it does not have its "invisible" machine gun under the fuselage anymore, but two officers will shoot the player with assault rifles instead.

Special Features

The San Andreas Police Maverick has a powerful searchlight that can be activated by the police and the player.

Tips and Tricks

Snipe the helicopter just below the rotor blades and it will explode.

In San Andreas, it is possible to steal the Police Maverick that shoots at you. In hilly areas, sometimes the helicopter will fly low enough for you to be able to hijack it.

GTA IV note: The Police Maverick is indeed flyable. It is an annoying process, and is often failed because of Rockstar's attempts to keep you from flying it. What is involved is using another chopper to take off the main rotor blade at a very low height, so that everyone inside survives. If anyone dies (because of the fall), then that officer will not get out, and you'll be unable to get the Police chopper. Once it is on the ground, land your chopper nearby, and if all went well, and the police officers lived, then kill them, get out of the pursuit, but NOT by running away, as the crashed chopper will disappear. Once you are out of the pursuit, push the chopper into a safehouse parking spot, save, and then load the save file. You now will have a new, flyable Police Maverick. There is no radio, no computer, and the searchlight is not available, as usual. It is still essentially a regular Maverick with a special paint job. (This is best done at the eastern Algonquin safehouse (not Playboy X's), where there is plenty of space to bring it down safely.) Second note: I found it incredibly useful to use cheats, and that was how I did it, however, I suppose it can be done without. -Crazyraider312
