The Liberty City Terrorist was a gang that was dropped during the development of Grand Theft Auto III. While it remains uncertain why they were removed, it is widely believed that it was due to the 9/11 terrorist attacks. They were likely led by Darkel and one of the members were possibly Curtly, two other deleted characters. Their motive was to bring down the economy in Liberty City. Their missions mainly involved terrorist activities, such as setting pedestrians on fire, blowing up an ice cream van, Liberty City High School, and the Love Media building - with Donald Love in it. The dropped gang was later mentioned in Grand Theft Auto IV by both Roman Bellic and United Liberty Paper as they were causing a threat to Liberty City.
