Just to clarify, whether businesses deserve their own article depends on whether a) people care & will look for information specifically on this, b) whether there is more than 1 sentence worth of relevant information, c) whether it will be linked to from many different places. If the answer to those is yes, then you can make a page. If the answer is no, then you might as well put the information into the tables of businesses in city/game/era. A-Dust is right in saying that we should try to be inclusionist and hold as much information as we can. However, if we had a page for every single building in every single game, it would be impossible to manage and maintain. I think there should be a difference between businesses that do things ingame (such as media companies or pay'n'spray), enterable shops (24-7), mentioned/advertised companies (such as Sprunk), and dud shopfronts that are nothing more than a photo (1 Hour Photo). I don't think the dud shopfronts deserve articles, and they are better off going into a table, since there is only 1 sentence of information we could ever write (games, locations, photo). Having 1000s of articles about them that are never used or looked at makes managing them a lot harder, and makes vandalism/errors much harder to find. We can still have all the same information, but put it into one page instead. No? Gboyers talk 16:37, March 14, 2010 (UTC)

That's what I'm working on. I was putting putting the information of businesses that are already made into a table like you recommended a while back. It does look better than all of the individual articles.--Gta-mysteries 19:43, March 14, 2010 (UTC)

::No offense, but that's a bad excuse for not putting a summary. I've been here just as long as you, and I'm still writing summaries. If you're that worried about time, you should think about how much of it you're putting into this wiki as opposed to life. I mean yeah it's cool, and I love Grand Theft Auto more then a lot of things, but there's limits. That aside, I think you're a great attribute to the site, and I hope we can get along. I don't want to make enemies, or have arguments, I just want to edit in peace, and be at peace with other editors and come to solutions in normal discussions.

Actually, it is precisely your no-nonsense attitude and attention-to-detail that I like. I don't pick staff that'll just agree with whatever I say, I pick staff who have good ideas of their own, and staff that will work together to make this wiki awesome. I know we disagree on a number of points, but it's not that I think your ideas are wrong/bad/stupid (you wouldn't be staff if I thought that!!), it's just we often have to choose one way of working - sometimes we'll use your ideas, sometimes we'll use others. To be honest, I personally consider you in charge of images, simply because you have much more experience, knowledge and input into images than anyone else here. I agree with your comments to AJ - images should be useful, not there just for the sake of it. As you know, my preference is for a general/helpful/descriptive/clear image in the top-right (on virtually every page), then specific, targeted images throughout articles and in galleries. This is to ensure we cater for the 3 main reasons someone would read an article: just randomly browsing (simple image helps); actively interested in the topic (simple overview, detail later); or looking up specific information (accurate detail is important). I know you often champion the accuracy and detail side of things, which is great, but I need to make sure we remember the casual visitors we have too. As you say - just having multiple images of the same character from different angles is not useful for anyone. As for edit summaries, I enabled them by default to encourage editors to think about and explain their edits, particularly where they are not-obvious or controversial. More experienced/trusted users can get away with not leaving a summary because there's no controversy or confusion. I can see you've disabled it in your preferences, which is fine. I know you always have the article's best interests at heart in all your edits, so there's never going to be a problem. == Re:Protagonists in GTA 1 ==
Would you like to discuss the issue of including subpages for Protagonists in GTA 1 and Protagonists in GTA London? These subpages will be turned into redirects for the sake of simplicity, but since you had a hand in restoring those pages after I redirected these pages the first time, it's only fair that we talk about it here. Thanks. - ZS (talk) 17:54, 11 November 2011 (UTC)
News articles
Hi. Do you think it's better to have all news articles be under one author, like TJ Barry? Or is it better to separate author from the news article, like Peter Armstrong and Another Punch in the Gut for Organized Crime?--spaceeinstein 00:36, 14 November 2011 (UTC)
Re:Game logos
Thanks for talk page reply and the heads up on the logo. As for the logo, the help is appreciated but Ultorultor's logos for GTA games from GTA III onwards omits the "Grand Theft Auto" bit, so Spaceeinstein's GTACW logo doesn't quiet cut it. While I wait for Ultorultor's reply, I'm also attempting to separate the "Chinatown Wars" text from an image of the logo myself. - ZS (talk) 12:00, 20 November 2011 (UTC)
Patrol
Hi A-Dust, Gboyers told me you've given me the right to patrol articles? Thanks, I didn't know about that until I got the message.
By the way, you'll notice I've been back to adding pictures for Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas missions. Most of them were old, low quality, and some pages didn't have enough pictures. I'm in the process of adding new ones, but I've kinda messed up the order they appear in the gallery by file name. If it's a problem, could you move them around? Also, some pictures I've simply uploaded as updated versions of .jpg but after a while I noticed that the newer versions of images don't take for a while, even after purging. So I think I'll just upload everything as .png now, could you delete the older unused pictures? <span style="font-family:calibri; text-shadow: black 0 4px 4px; color:080808;">It makes sense if you don't think about it...</span> 01:51, 8 January 2012 (UTC)
If you go to OG Loc (mission), scroll down to the gallery and look at image #4 ("CJ and Loc shoot at Freddy."), you'll see the first version of the image. You'll only see my updated picture by clicking on it. Also, the thumbnail of the updated picture is identical to the first one. This has been the case for any new version uploads I've made on all the mission articles. <span style="font-family:calibri; text-shadow: black 0 4px 4px; color:080808;">It makes sense if you don't think about it...</span> 02:33, 8 January 2012 (UTC)
:If I may drop in here and answer part of your question - when you re-upload a new version, it does change straight away (unless there's a problem I don't know about). It's only your own browser that caches (remembers) the old version of the file and its thumbnails. I can confirm the image you mention above HAS changed to reflect your replacement, but the thumbnail hasn't yet (I'll check that). Best thing to do is do a hard refresh (Ctrl+F5) or clear your cache. Or if you just want to check whether it's gone through, try using a different web browser or enabling private/incognito mode, which will show you what everyone else sees without using your cache. As for unused pictures, just add the delete template to the File's page and an admin can delete it. gboyers talk 02:49, 8 January 2012 (UTC)
:Correction - there was a problem, and I've now fixed it. Should work normally now. If you ever get a problem like that again, it'll fix itself overnight when the scripts run. gboyers talk 03:10, 8 January 2012 (UTC)
Don't delete my images
What's your problem? Don't delete my images. Content nowadays needs to be changed. You might want the old image but deleting my image? That's nonsense. I prefer the new image, and it has a higher resolution. SFK363 (talk) 15:37, 20 January 2012 (UTC)
Bot replace tool
I've added a new bot function that you can use yourself, at Special:MassEditRegex. Instructions are here. You can use this to mass-replace templates, categories etc on any list of pages you want (such as a list of pages already in the category you want to change. I've also added Special:ReplaceText which you can use on ALL pages in one go. Just be careful, and test it on a test/sandbox page before running, especially if you aren't familiar with RegEx! == Loss of rights ==
Hmm, I noticed that you were no longer a bot. Strangely, I can still move and delete, but I no longer have access to Special:UserRights. The list at the top of my preferences says Autoconfirmed Users, Logged in Users (which is why I said it's strange that I can move and delete). The user rights were lost in the past due to an update, and Gerard manually restored them, so something similar may have happened. Gerard is the only person that has direct access to the software to look any further than that. How do I change the title of an article? GTA CJ Bellic (talk|edits) 18:01, 13 May 2012 (UTC)
: I'd like to see the title of Roman's Killer changed into Faustin's Bodyguard, because he only kills Roman in the "Deal"-ending, not in the "Revenge"-ending. == Questions ==
1. Why the severe simplification of image categorization, like this image page for example? The new setup does nothing more than clumping hundreds of categorized images into a single category, making it impossible to locate specific images.
2. Is there a need to use roman numerals for image names? I have serious trouble properly typing these in compacted image naming formats. I've already mistakenly typed "VI" as "IV" twice.
- ZS (talk|edits) 19:01, 27 July 2012 (UTC)
:1. Still not sure how that works. Articles are usually listed above images, so their presence in a category is not necessarily a hindrance. An explanation of how consistent naming would make it easier for images to be located.
:2. I am well aware of the fact that these games use Roman numerals and the fact that we have to use them when referring to them formally in articles, but trying to extend its use to every aspect of the wiki doesn't seem very helpful, especially for something as petty as image names, let alone a compact image naming convention where it's hard to distinguish an acronym from a Roman number. While I'm all for consistency, this rigid adherence has gone a little overboard.
:- ZS (talk|edits) 21:29, 27 July 2012 (UTC)
::1. I was requesting for an explanation on the talk page about how the new category system is an improvment.
::2. Considering the fact that the GTA Wikia is still hogging all of the traffic and is edited far more extensively (despite the severe degradation of quality), an extensive naming regime shouldn't have been top on our list of priorities for now. What this wiki desperately needs is improved content if it is to compete with the Wikia, and we're don't even have enough manpower to do that anymore since this wiki lost its momentum a year after the move, having far less active editors than the Wikia. There is seriously no point for these standardizations if there is little to no new content to go with it.

I am asking this question because i've already asked User:gboyers about page limitations he said there aren't any.
Please be kind to discuss this on my talk page.

Leon McAffrey dies in Plaster Blaster
If you played this mission, then you know that Leon McAffrey survived Claude's attack in Silence the Sneak. Ray is very angry that Claude failed to kill McAffrey, and the mission is to throw him out of his ambulance and to kill him with a car. So he is injured in Silence the Sneak and killed in Plaster Blaster. Did you play the mission, or did you skip it? People can complete GTA III without doing the mission. == Quotes ==
Quotes are a great way to introduce a reader to a character. I've spent too many hours of my time on this wiki and the internet finding good quotes for each character to have it all deleted. How about a discussion before you start deleting stuff? Therefore I have given you and Gboyers my reasoning for reverting your quote edits. I will not change every single one, as I feel some of the quotes could be stronger, however I feel most of them at the moment, are great. Grand Theft AJ (talk|edits) 22:14, 23 November 2012 (UTC)
:Strong quotes can be much more powerful at conveying what that character is really about, particularly for people who haven't played the game. Whether they are quotes of the character or about them (by someone else), I think they can be useful. It also helps stop the page being a solid wall of text - catching the eye and offering a slightly different way of looking at things, which is great. If you're concerned about the way they look, talk to me and we'll change it. I know you don't believe in edit summaries, but if you're undoing someone else's hard work, offering a brief explanation is just polite. == Era / 3D HD ==
They have always been referred to as either "GTA III Era" "GTA IV Era" etc. I believe you are making an unnecessary change that will only cause confusion as opposed to making the Wiki better.<br>
An example of this confusion is on the page for Crow, you wrote: <br>
"is a character that appears in the 3D Universe and the HD Universe (the GTA IV and GTA V eras)" <br>
This is evidence enough that even you must clarify it as the original Eras to avoid confusion, thefore I will be reverting any Era name changes back to the previous versions until Gboyers says otherwise.
