The Tank is regarded as a special vehicle in GTA due to its extraordinary strength and ability to blow up vehicles by driving over them or using the turret to shoot at them. In GTA1 and GTA2 the vehicle is simply called the 'Tank', however in the 3D games (GTAIII onwards) it was given the name of Rhino.

Variations are also apparent in GTA London 1969 where it is known as Royal Pain, and GTA London 1961 where it is known as Tiger Tank.
