GTA IV Final Mission

This forum topic is about GTA IV and appears in the GTA IV Portal.

Hi everyone. I beat GTA IV Revenge with cheats, Deal with, then Revenge without, and I'm one mission away from the credits of Deal without. I just want to finish it, but this mission just seems impossible. I mean, I beat it before with cheats.

I have failed this mission more than any other mission in the game, I even beat Revenge first go without cheats. The problem is that Stupid Dimitri keeps hitting me with his RPG. I have tried the normal tactic of grabbing on to his helicopter, then dropping onto the boat. He hits the boat. If I don't get in the boat straight way, he hits me. I tried just running to the boat, he's right ahead of me in his helicopter, and fires heaps at me.

One go that I had, He only reduced my health by half, but the wait that it caused by throwing me down meant I didn't reach Jacob's helicopter in time. Twice, I managed to escape been hit, but he's escaped from me before I've even seen Jacob.

HELP! What did everyone else do. I just want to finish it so that I can go for the 100%. Biggest GTA Fan EverTalk 10:05, 17 December 2008 (UTC)

Just to clarify, this is A Revenger's Tragedy (one mission article that isn't very good). I haven't tried deal, so I can't really advise. However, perhaps you could look on youtube for a video of that mission, to see how other people do it? Such as part 1 and part 2 - Gboyers talk 15:18, 17 December 2008 (UTC)
I don't know if you're trying to clarify that with yoursef, or with me, but that's rght. As for videos, I will watch that one and have a look, but I have watched so many videos, and read both IGN's and GameSpot's guide. Usually I try not to read guides, but if I have to, it's IGN, I just trust them. However, IGN says that the RPG can't hit you.
My brother had the same problem (with cheats), but not to this severity. It did however get to the point where he wanted me to do it (though he had one go in front of me, and he beat it). I'm not even going to ask him, because he hasn't done one mission without cheats, you can't just jump straight to the last one. (well, I did ask him but now that I think about it, it's useless, as well as the fact that I like to beat my own games rather than rely on someone else's talent).
For some reason, I've just always gotten lucky with GTA IV and beaten most missions first go. And when I DO fail, the game makes it feel like a challenge, and makes me come back. But with this mission, I know that it literally takes 10-20 minutes (depending on how good I beat the first part/If I need to go get health) just to get back to this part. Oh, and, if yu're planning to do deal, I hope you already knew the basics of deal from around the wiki, so that I didn't cause any spoilers (like by saying Dimitri) Biggest GTA Fan EverTalk 22:27, 17 December 2008 (UTC)

I BEAT IT! I tried a tactic that I saw in a video, to swim under the dock instead of just running to the boat. That blocked the RPG's. From there, a few minor mistake, but I managed to circumvent them all. When I started without cheats, the goal was use them until I needed them. I am so proud of getting this far without them (first GTA game ever). It was MONTHS ago that I though I would be able to complete the main story in a few weeks (cos I had done it before). But I was busy, and for whatever reasons (always changing over time), I just didn't get much chance to play. It took ALOT longer than planned. Oh and, I didn't get a health (or armour) pickup. Because it's a long dive and I didn't need it much at the time it was possible. I lost most of what I lost in Happiness Island and still finished with some armour left (no health even touched) WOW! Best I ever beat any mission (almost).
