Save File

The save file with the file extension B is used to save vital game information in Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. It is created by the game when the player chooses one of the eight save slots in the 'Save game' menu. The file name is not customizable and the only characters that can vary in the file name is the save slot number.

The following pattern is used to name the save files: <game_short_title>sf<game_slot_number>.b. For example the GTASAsf3.b file name tells that this save was made in GTA San Andreas and it will appear in the third slot of the 'Load game' menu.

Location

Save files usually can be found in the User Files folder which is located in the current user's Documents folder. The location of this folder varies depending upon the version of Windows installed. The User Files folder name depends on the game:

  • GTA III : GTA3 User Files
  • GTA Vice City : GTA Vice City User Files
  • GTA San Andreas : GTA San Andreas User Files
