A School bus from the BETA version of GTA III

The School Bus is a vehicle that was intended to appear in Grand Theft Auto III, however, it was replaced in later development for an unknown reason. It was likely removed in attempt to avoid controversy over killing kids in the game - a mission for Darkel required the player to blow up a school using a "rigged" school bus. The school bus can be seen in BETA screenshots. The vehicle does appear in the finished version of GTA III, but only as a rusted wreck (for example, near 8-Ball Autos in Harwood, Portland Island). The wrecked school bus can be seen again in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City inside the Hyman Memorial Stadium during Dirtring trial. A couple of wrecked school buses are also in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas in Blackfield Stadium during the Kickstart trial.

School Bus wrecks also appear in Grand Theft Auto IV as a sneer at absence of children in game. They can be seen near the 'Screamer' roller coaster in Firefly Island. There are also some traffic law signs throughout, directing vehicles to stop for school buses.
