Blood Brothers is a mission in Grand Theft Auto IV given to protagonist Niko Bellic by corrupt police officer Francis McReary from Lancet, Algonquin, Liberty City.

Mission

Niko Bellic receives a text message to meet Francis McReary in Algonquin and Niko follows the instructions, meeting Francis who explains that he wants his brother Derrick dead for "the good of the community". Derrick, however, is intending to leak incriminating information about Francis to a news reporter, putting his career at risk. Francis tells Niko that he is meeting Derrick in Lancet, giving Niko the opportunity to kill his brother. Niko, however, is later contacted by Derrick who informs him of the meeting and his fear that Francis wants him dead. Derrick asks Niko to attend the meeting and kill Francis. Niko then phones Francis to get the exact location of the meet before climbing scaffolding and using a window cleaning platform to reach the roof where he can shoot one of the brothers.

Niko then decides to kill either Francis or Derrick, the decision being left to the player. Niko then flees the area, with Derrick running away (if Francis is killed) or Francis telling everyone to clear the area (if Derrick is killed). If Francis is spared, Niko phones him to say he is finished working for him and that he expets help in evading the police in the future, threatening to give information to the police if Francis does not co-operate. If Derrick is spared, he thanks Niko for saving his life.

Rewards

The reward for completing the mission, if Derrick McReary is killed, is $10,000 from Francis McReary and the ability to reduce the wanted level by phoning Francis. The player can, however, increase the monetary reward to $20,000 by phoning Francis prior to killing Derrick. There is no reward for killing Francis. The mission Undertaker is unlocked after completing the mission.
