The Fastest Boat is a mission in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City given to protagonist Tommy Vercetti by local drug baron Ricardo Diaz from his mansion on Starfish Island, Vice City.

Mission

Tommy Vercetti returns to Ricardo Diaz' mansion to look for work, having solved his problems with the Sharks, and meets Diaz attempting to kill the pigeons surrounding his mansion. Diaz asks Tommy who owns the fastest boat on the east coast and, after Tommy is unable to answer, Diaz says that he does and he wants to that to remain so. Diaz, however, tells Tommy that every drug dealer between Vice City to Caracas, Venezuela wants the fastest boat in the city and that a new one is at the Boatyard in Viceport that is being built for a Costa Rican Gang.

Tommy leaves Diaz' mansion and drives to the Boatyard, fighting his way onto the premises and shooting the guards guarding the boat. Tommy sees the boat and fights past more guards into a hangar where he presses the switch to lower the boat into the water. Tommy then shoots his way through to the boat and drives it back to Diaz' mansion, gaining a 3-star wanted level in the process. Tommy however, successfully avoids the pursuing police boats.

Script

(Diaz' Garden, Tommy Vercetti and Ricardo Diaz)

Ricardo Diaz: Not so pleased with your selves NOW, huh! Ahahahahaa, Ahahahahaa!

Tommy Vercetti: Whoa! Watch where you're waving that thing!

Ricardo Diaz: No more pigeon shit on MY car, eh Tommy?

Tommy Vercetti: Guess not.

Ricardo Diaz: You're damn right. Now listen, you know who owns the fastest boat on the east coast?

Tommy Vercetti: Not off hand, no.

Ricardo Diaz: ME. And I want it to stay that way. Every smuggler from here to Caracas has one dream, a faster boat. Rumor has it, the boatyard has just completed such a vessel for some Costa Rican dickhead. And Tommy!...I WANT THAT BOAT! Ah, I thought I got you. Where'd you come from!? Pigeons! Boom! Aaahhh!

Tommy Vercetti: I think your pigeons are back.

Glitch

  • Due to the way the player enters boats, it is possible to enter the boat without lowering it, saving a lot of time and effort. If the player gets as close to the boat as possible, then tries to enter, they will be teleported into the boat, and can drive back to the mansion.

Reward

The reward for this mission is $4,000. The mission Supply & Demand is unlocked. Also, if the player has completed Waste the Wife, the mission Autocide will be unlocked.

Trivia

  • The boat in the mission is called the Squalo II, although its performance and handling is no different to that of a normal Squalo.
  • Ricardo Diaz states that the Squalo is the fastest boat in Vice City. However, tests with the Vice City boats have proven thet the Jetmax is actually faster.
