Tetsuo is confirmed to be a Yakuza torturer, although the witness loses both eyes.

An earthquake damages bridges connecting between Flint, Red, and Bone County, leading to its closures for an extended period.
Tommy Vercetti from Vice City ditches his lawyer and partner, Ken Rosenberg, forcing Rosenberg to escape to the desert in San Andreas (near Las Venturas).
Events of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas unfolds.
- Beverly Johnson, the mother of Carl Johnson, is murdered in the Johnson House in a drive-by shooting by the Ballas.
- Carl "CJ" Johnson returns to San Andreas from Liberty City after hearing of his mother's death.
- Sweet is arrested, and the Grove Street Families turf falls to the Ballas.
- CJ kills former friend and ally, Ryder.
- CJ begins to work for a U.S. federal agent, Mike Toreno.
- Sweet is finally released from prison as part of an agreement between Mr. Toreno and CJ in exchange for CJ having done work for Mr. Toreno after several weeks.
- A large-scale riot erupts across the state of San Andreas, including the city of Los Santos, following announcement by Red County District Attorney's Office dropping charges against C.R.A.S.H. member Officer Frank Tenpenny for lack of evidence necessary to convict him.
- CJ kills his former friend and ally Big Smoke.
- Officer Tenpenny is killed when the fire engine he is driving overturns on an overpass bridge in Ganton, he is killed by the weight of the vehicle.
