The Boatyard is, as the name states, a boatyard in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. It is located in Viceport, Vice City, just a short walk away from the Viceport Military Garage, Phil's Depot and the Vice City Port Authority office.
Role in Storyline
The Boatyard constructed speedboats for specific buyers. The Boatyard built the fastest boat in Vice City for the head of the Costa Rican Gang, but Tommy Vercetti broke into the Boatyard to steal the boat under orders of Ricardo Diaz during mission "The Fastest Boat." Later in 1986, Tommy Vercetti bought the Boatyard for $10,000, prompting Dwaine and Jethro to leave Vice City to the state of San Andreas. Tommy uses the Boatyard as a port of entry for the cocaine shipments, which he then proceeds to distribute in Vice City. When Tommy finishes the boat race in Checkpoint Charlie, the business will generate up to $2,000 in assets.
Ownership
Circa 1986, the Boatyard is owned by two men, Dwaine and Jethro. Later in 1986, Tommy Vercetti bought the Boatyard for $10,000, prompting Dwaine and Jethro to leave Vice City to the state of San Andreas.
Trivia
- The Boatyard is referenced in the mission "Wear Flowers in your Hair" in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. During this mission The Truth goes to with Carl Johnson to find Dwaine and Jethro, who owned the boatyard before Tommy Vercetti bought it. The Truth says, "...there's these two guys I know - used to work on marine engines, 'til the mob bought their business over in Vice.".
