It is a fully automatic shotgun that can easily pierce through enemies and destroy vehicles. It first appeared in the mission Heavy Toll when the player stops a convoy and steals a van full cocaine. It can be purchased from Terry's gun van and will spawn at the player's safehouses after 40 gang wars.

- The Assault Shotgun shown in-game is similar in appearance to the DAO-12 Streetsweeper, however the DAO-12 is actually semi-auto. The Assault Shotgun behaves more like an AA-12, a full-auto shotgun with a somewhat similar appearance.
- If the player blind fires with Dao-12 he will be seen placing 12-gauges in the gun after every shot is fired, even if there are still shells to be fired.
