The Tracksuit is a recurring item of clothing in the Grand Theft Auto series, appearing in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories (as "Sweats") and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories. As the name states, it appears as a tracksuit with matching colors. They each have different appearances and purposes depending on the game.
GTA Vice City
In GTA Vice City, the tracksuit comes in two variants: a red tracksuit with yellow stripes and a black tracksuit with white stripes, spawning in the Brownstone Laundromat and the Downtown Jocksport respectively; both outfits feature white sneakers derived from the Street. Although it is not intended to be obtained until Mainland is opened to the player after "Phnom Penh '86", the red tracksuit is available from the beginning of the game; the black variant is only unlocked after "Supply & Demand".
The black tracksuit is thought to be modeled after an Adidas tracksuit in Goodfellas worn by Henry Hill during his stint in prison in the 1970s (Henry was played by Ray Liotta, who also voiced GTA Vice City protagonist Tommy Vercetti). The red tracksuit is presumably a recolor of the black tracksuit.
Like other clothing pickups, changing into them will remove up to a two star wanted level, even if the player is already wearing a tracksuit of a matching color.
GTA Liberty City Stories
The tracksuit outfit in GTA Liberty City Stories is known as "Sweats", composing a blue tracksuit with a zip-up top with a matching blue pants, a white undershirt and white trainers. Like other clothes in the game, changing into the outfit will remove up to a two star wanted level.
GTA Vice City Stories
The Tracksuit in GTA Vice City Stories is given a more flashy design, being colored red and purple with white stripes, and comes complete with white low tops. The outfit also features a long necklace also present on the Leisure. Like other clothes in the game, changing into the outfit will remove up to a two star wanted level.
The Tracksuit is unlocked after developing a High-roller Drugs empire site. However, Drugs empire sites are only normally accessible after Vice City Beach is unlocked after "From Zero to Hero", although they are supposed to be available for interaction after "To Victor, the Spoils".
