Following the precedence set by TLAD, the game will follow another [[protagonist]], [[Luis Fernando Lopez]] through a new storyline which interacts with both GTA IV and TLAD.  Luis was believed to be the next protagonist for several months leading up to the announcement of [[The Ballad of Gay Tony]].
The protagonist is [[Luis Fernando Lopez]], a part-time hoodlum and full-time assistant to legendary nightclub impresario [[Gay Tony]] (aka Anthony Prince). The storyline will interweave with the original game and first episode, most notably the [[Museum Piece]] mission which includes all 3 protagonists and secures the "Impossible Trinity" [[achievement]].


The DLC, like The Lost and Damned, should also feature new combat system add-ons, missions, side-missions, and vehicles.  The release date is currently unknown, but centered around fall 2009.
As well as a new storyline, missions and characters, it should also feature new [[Vehicles in GTA IV|vehicles]], [[weapons]], features, mechanics, [[side-missions]], [[collectibles]] and achievements.


Rockstar Games is believed to be fully revealing the DLC at E3 2009, or other video gaming conventions.
Rockstar says that "players will struggle with the competing loyalties of family and friends, and with the uncertainty about who is real and who is fake in a world in which everyone has a price." According to Rockstar's Official Website, "The Ballad of Gay Tony injects Liberty City with an overdose of guns, glitz, and grime."
 
In addition to this Rockstar has also announced they will be releasing '''Grand Theft Auto: Episodes From Liberty City''' at the same time, which will include both episodes and will not require an original copy of GTA IV.

Grand Theft Auto IV: The Ballad of Gay Tony is the second episode of downloadable content for GTA IV for the Xbox 360. It is due to be released in late 2009, six months after the first episode The Lost and Damned.
