Abigail Mathers is a character in the HD Universe who appears as a Strangers and Freaks character in Grand Theft Auto V.
Character history
Abigail Winthrop, was the assistant of Frank Mathers and in 2009 she married him, after he left his wife. The two remained together but their relationship became strained, mainly due to his environmentalism and his desire to explore the Pacific Ocean surrounding Southern San Andreas. Frank, however, dies when a new submarine began breaking apart after Abigail sabotaged the airlock. She later hires Michael De Santa to explore the ocean floor and retrieve the submarine parts, promising a large reward, which turns out to be $10 and an autographed photo of her late husband. Michael suggests to her that the airlock had been tampered with, although she claims that, as an expert in nautical engineering, she can tell it was a malfunction rather than sabotage that caused the submarine to break apart. When Michael brings up that Frank had scratched "Someone tampered with the airlocks" into the submarine, she claims his ex-wife and the police must have been behind his death and quickly leaves, claiming that she will go to the FIB. The player can then spare or kill Abigail.

Trivia
- In order to meet Abigail, the player must purchase the Sonar Collections Dock in Blaine County, which can be done after the mission Derailed.
- Abigail, after leaving the Sonar Collections Dock, drives to Los Santos International Airport where she exits her car and claims that Michael is harassing her, which triggers a three star wanted level.
