Frank Mathers is a character in the HD Universe who is mentioned in Grand Theft Auto V.
Character history
Frank Mathers was born in Liberty City in 1945 and later moved to Vinewood to become a novelist. Frank, however, became a television producer and produced hit television shows Angel and the Knight, My Drunk Uncles and Just the Five of Us. In 1989 he married and, at a later date, had five children with his wife. Frank left the television industry and turned his attention to exploration, in particular the Pacific Ocean surrounding San Andreas. In 2009 he left his wife and married Abigail Winthrop, his former assistant. In 2013 he used a new submarine to explore the ocean, attempting to help save the San Andreas white shark, although the submarine suffered a malfunction causing it to sink before breaking apart.
His body was never found and as no cause of the malfunction could be found, due to the pieces of submarine floating away, his new wife Abigail, who had sabotaged the submarine, could not claim the insurance. She later hired Michael De Santa to collect the submarine pieces, and takes a piece of the ship proving the airlocks had been tampered with, before leaving and promising to get the FIB to look into Frank's death. The player does have the option to kill Abigail as she leaves.
